Skin Like a Prison, today's words

Got about 400 words done in the last hour, which is phenomenal progress for me. Heh. Here's a brief snippet.


"Oh, Luke." Leia's voice was no less sympathetic. "We've been so worried—"

He didn't mean to be rude but he couldn't help cutting off the sympathy he didn't want to hear. Didn't deserve. "You're all okay, though? You an' Chewie weren't injured or… " He stumbled over the thought that perhaps Darth Vader had tortured them. Vader. Yes, so much easier, less horrifying, to think of him as Darth Vader.

At her nod, he again talked over everybody else. "And Han?" He heard the fear in his own voice, feeding back into a circuit of sick fearangerhaterevenge circling in his belly like lothcats chasing their tails – vicious and relentless. "Where's Han?" The panic crept a little higher when Chewie and Leia exchanged worried glances.

Oh, dear, that is the million dollar question. And you can just see Boba Vett with the phone, "Hello, Federal Express?" (when it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight).

I really like the way you're able to show the turmoil lying beneath Luke's few lines of conversation, the way he's trying to control it.

I stumbled over fearangerhaterevenge, I wonder whether fear-anger-hate-revenge is less difficult ?
