Moderate progress today: I've translated about a page and a half; hard to tell when you write by hand, as pages turn out differently than on the computer. In any case, some world-building, some descriptions and some drama... more than nothing.

Amount of writing achieved - about 300 words. But I have been procrasti-knitting and have knitted a dragon...

I was out all day again, so again just writing odds and ends on the tablet screen. Hopefully I should be able to spend Monday and Tuesday evenings writing on the Proper Computer, and get some things tidied up.

I went back to start a walk report which somehow escaped in the summer. 289 words - just a start, but it means I'm not facing an empty page the next time.

They had a lovely cartoon map of the area on a sign, but I especially liked that the Citylink bus was important enough to make an appearance on it.



Knitting just scraped to 85% by the end of the day. Fingers crossed...

There's a little one on the local hill, too - a route into Edinburgh from the days when you kept to higher ground or sank into the bog - but that one is *The* Rest and Be Thankful, as seen on the news!

Ours is at the top of Slieu Lewaigue - which is the long hard climb from Ramsey on the main Douglas road - and there used to be a pub at the top called Rest and be Thankful - but as no-one either walks themselves or their cart horses up any more it is now a private house, but has retained the name.

The Argyll one seems to have been named by the soldiers who built the 18th century military road, although it must have had an earlier Gaelic name, because it's one of the very few ways through the hills into Argyll.

These days it's mostly famous for falling down - every so often the road is closed because of a landslide, and most of the rest of the time one lane of it is closed for anti-landslide works!

Thank you - that was interesting to read. I can see why they might get landslips on the new road - and I really like the idea of the 'modern' replacement stone!
