November 2019 - Day 27

Here is the place to tell us about your daily success (or the lack of it)!
May the magic be with us all!

I have a sense of déja vu. This time last year I wrote here that I had rewritten the words for the lighting of the Advent candles at church. I have just done it again. We have fewer children at church and one of the ones who want to help is diagnosed dyslexic, and another is not an easy reader.

I realise that repetition, and keeping the vocabulary of each reading quite tight, helps. And last year's words do not fulfill those requirements, so we will keep them for another year.

Last year I posted them a day at a time each Sunday and will do it again this year. But as they are only just over 200 words long in total I thought that I would share them here. Not all the words are very easy, but I think they will cope.

Week One.

This is our first Advent candle.
It reminds us that Christmas is coming and it reminds us that people waited for a long time for Jesus.
But they did not always wait patiently.
Help us to wait patiently.

Week Two.

This is our second Advent candle.
It reminds us that Christmas is coming and it reminds us that the prophets told people that Jesus was coming.
But they did not always listen.
Help us to listen.

Week Three.

This is our third Advent candle.
It reminds us that Christmas is coming and it reminds us that John the Baptist told people that Jesus was coming.
But they did not always understand.
Help us to understand.

Week Four.

This is our fourth Advent candle. It reminds us that Christmas is coming.
It reminds us of Mary. An angel told Mary that Jesus was coming as her baby and she said YES straight away.
Help us to say YES if God wants us to do something.

Christmas Day.

This is our final candle because Christmas is here. We do not need reminding of that!
But it reminds us that Jesus is the very centre of Christmas.
He is at the very centre of everything.
Help us to remember this today and every day.

Thank you. I am so pleased it brought you good memories. This year, as the almost-grandchildren are at our house after school, we are having one at home as well - hopefully making more good memories.
