November 2019 - Day 27

Here is the place to tell us about your daily success (or the lack of it)!
May the magic be with us all!

Not much to report for me. I've started on my Down the Chimney. Only 427 words... and no plot yet to speak of... Sigh.

I did, but not much and certainly nothing much today, either.

Thanks and, yes, it is. I have time to play with this one.

I've been missing, mainly because I haven't been writing much. Spent the last two weeks watching the impeachment hearings: appalling and fascinating, impossible to look away. This week my brother and his family are here for thanksgiving. I love them dearly, but they're exhausting. I've done little bits and pieces of writing in between but not nearly enough. I have close to 500 words on my story which I like, and another 450 or so which are just dull and there as filler for the time being. I'll try to do a bit more here and there for the next few days, and then really have to bear down the first couple of weeks of December. Fingers crossed things will remain quiet for a while. Not my best November.

500 is a start.
Have a good Thanksgiving.

Hey, with all that you have going on, that's a lot. I bet they will all be choice when you finish.

Woo! Peeling potatoes is awesome! (not)

[identity profile] spikesgirl58.livejournal.com 2019-11-28 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, that's a lot of potatoes! How many are you feeding this year?

Been there, done that. I was honestly happy with the 13 we had.

I wrote a little, but probably won't get back to it until Monday. I prefer to write work things at work-that's where all my notes are.
Probably just comments. :)

Hope you have all the magick, guise!! I have not worded today, except answering posts. But I feel it has been a good use of my time. :D

Thanks. It was a good day for me, even with the low word count.

I have a sense of déja vu. This time last year I wrote here that I had rewritten the words for the lighting of the Advent candles at church. I have just done it again. We have fewer children at church and one of the ones who want to help is diagnosed dyslexic, and another is not an easy reader.

I realise that repetition, and keeping the vocabulary of each reading quite tight, helps. And last year's words do not fulfill those requirements, so we will keep them for another year.

Last year I posted them a day at a time each Sunday and will do it again this year. But as they are only just over 200 words long in total I thought that I would share them here. Not all the words are very easy, but I think they will cope.

Week One.

This is our first Advent candle.
It reminds us that Christmas is coming and it reminds us that people waited for a long time for Jesus.
But they did not always wait patiently.
Help us to wait patiently.

Week Two.

This is our second Advent candle.
It reminds us that Christmas is coming and it reminds us that the prophets told people that Jesus was coming.
But they did not always listen.
Help us to listen.

Week Three.

This is our third Advent candle.
It reminds us that Christmas is coming and it reminds us that John the Baptist told people that Jesus was coming.
But they did not always understand.
Help us to understand.

Week Four.

This is our fourth Advent candle. It reminds us that Christmas is coming.
It reminds us of Mary. An angel told Mary that Jesus was coming as her baby and she said YES straight away.
Help us to say YES if God wants us to do something.

Christmas Day.

This is our final candle because Christmas is here. We do not need reminding of that!
But it reminds us that Jesus is the very centre of Christmas.
He is at the very centre of everything.
Help us to remember this today and every day.

Very cool and well written!

Thank you!

Thank you. I am so pleased it brought you good memories. This year, as the almost-grandchildren are at our house after school, we are having one at home as well - hopefully making more good memories.

I've lost track of the days a bit, but I did write something yesterday.

Since I've mostly tidied up the hills I'm forced back into the Age of Sail - although this is land, an exhibition I went to see at the museum. Wordpress definitely said 103 words when I closed it, but it seems to have eaten a few since then, so I had to rewrite them.

The second section dealt with George IV's visit to Scotland in 1822, and looked at the way highland dress started to be used to represent Scotland as a whole
