I have begun work on an idea for my Easter Egg story. Mainly playing with an idea, trying a few things. I have two notebook pages done for today, plus a good amount of thinking time, running through the what-ifs while things gel a bit more.

Good start! You're working with notebook and pen(cil) then, not computer? I tried that, but am able to keep things in better order (in terms of lines, ideas etc) when I type--I think mainly because I don't transcribe the handwritten notes quickly enough and things get lost.

I have notebooks and odd paper files for some things - odd scraps of ideas, the descriptions below, lists of names - but I do the writing on the computer....

I always write down everything by hand first. Something I don't actually have on paper doesn't really exist for me. Yeah, I know I'm a dinosaur, but I started writing at the age of 10 or 11 when computers didn't even exist. Plus, hand-writing works during electricity failures, too. *g*

I do some heavy editing as I go along, so yeah, it's easier to write on the computer. I keep thinking there's got to be a more efficient way, but if there is, it doesn't seem to agree with me.

Yup - when I start a story I work on paper. That way I can jump up whenever something comes to me and add it to the notebook. Things are definitely jumbled - I never write a story sequentially, just record whatever's streaming at the moment. When I transcribe, I add detail and think about where it might eventually go in the order of things.
Very disorganized! Eventually I plow through the whole mess section by section and get it properly revised.

At the beginning, I rarely have a clear idea for the story, as I'm just bouncing the prompts around, seeing what ideas come to me! Anything goes:)

I have a hard time with it too. I am gradually learning to not reject anything out of hand. Just let the ideas germinate, see what happens.
