It is somewhat fussy but it also helps me form the universe so that I can get in the head of my gal.

That and I'm enjoying reading the history. I found that actually, picking the early 15th century instead of 50 or so years prior is a risk since the Silk Road had declined due to the collapse of the Mongol Empire in the mid 1300s but I think I can use that to creative advantage that it would make her travels FAR more dangerous and interesting.
