Thanks. I'm having a lot of fun with this one.
The shorter ones were actually easier... several times I was stuck staring at 17 or 18 and trying to think how to get them down... :)
Thanks!
Thanks!
That's what made it so.... interesting to do :)
Fantastic. Welcome back on the Pico wagon. The band are playing, and we've got momentum, for the final stretch.
I myself fell off, within the first week. But, not too bad a fall. The grass stains are all forgotten, and I've had a great last week.
Well done on getting back into the saddle!

As it's in the same universe as my stalled novel (Quill and Coronet, 85000 words in), and I've spent many, many hours thinking about the society and politics of the nations and peoples of this world, in a way, yes.
But it's a short story with entirely different characters and only the most indirect references to characters in the original novel, so no
And then again. As Quill and Coronet started life as a short story, and this short story series ends with the implication of further adventures, who's to say it won't follow the same path? ;-)

That's right. They were in a scene I added to part 1. They were necessary to give the characters a reason not to be totally cynical.
It's a tough world, but not everyone is corrupt and malevolent :-)

As the others have said, brilliant time management. 1305 words because you snatched what few chances you had over the weekend, so sure enough, you've upped your target again to 17000. I hope you've got a nice little reward planned for yourself when midnight strikes tonight :)
From these extracts, this looks really fun. Is it a (long) short story, a novella, part of a novel?

I'm still loving this world. Excellent progress too.
A brilliant return to writing there.
Thanks. It's the beginnings of a Young Adult novel. I'm guessing that it will end up at somewhere between 60k and 80k words.
Not sure about a reward, although there are two books in the post on their way to me right now. I may have to set aside an evening to read one of them from cover to cover (probably
ms_manna's latest as I tend not to want to put those down once I pick one up).

Congratulations!
I'll be looking forward to reading the whole story!

I've got a lot of catching up to do with Music II and BPE on Pico.
Looking forward to it!

Fantastic, as usual. A great story.
That was crazy! Was it hard to do?
These excerpts are fascinating! I'll be skipping back in time to catch up with all of the posts for it. I don't want to miss any of it!
Great job on making time to write on the train. I am in awe.

I'm looking forward to reading all the DTC stories. I just love looking to see what's been posted. It sounds like you've gotten a lot written this month.
Harry Beldon, what a colorful character!
Still smarting from the lost argument against the standardization of UNCLE offices worldwide
I wonder, was Beldon responsible for shopping malls, by any chance? I can't tell one from the other...

Excessive guilding and inch-deep carpets caught my eye, too. I hope we'll see the whole fic posted. 472 words in an hour and a quarter... I weep with envy. I think I did that once. No. It was someone else. *g*
Oh, gosh, I really like this. Will there be more, somewhere?
Ned the Dead. Yup.
I did like NP a lot, here. I'm glad it's keeping your interest!

I don't know what's going to happen yet, either! At the rate I write, I'll still be at it next year. So I can post the conclusion, hee!
