Phew. Well, I'm back, and I'm proud to say that in the midst of a family emergency and all the attendant chaos, exhaustion and faff, I have nevertheless managed to keep writing. Torchwood 6 is up at my journal, I've got another short fanfic on the go, and I even managed a second draft of some proper original fiction.

And: the upshot is that... under the PicoWriMo 'no rules' rules, I did it!

Very little done last night, beyond poking at a couple of big "oops!" moments in TNTAML.

Question for y'all: if I wrote a little bonus story based on TNTAML containing cuddling and kissing but not a lot more between a 13 year old boy and an 18 year old boy, how squickful would that be to people? (Also there is a big twist involving the 18 year old and someone older than him, but I can't say anything more about it...) I know that scenes between teens and *adults* are taboo, but...

Heh, I read HP fic so a little age diff. doesn't scare! Seriously, I think it would depend on how it was treated, eg whether the younger or the older boy initiated the contact, how mature the younger one was, how immature the older one, what the attitude of the narrator was &c

It's just not a thing that's found in Bujold fic (which is a very small fandom). The initiation here is decidely the younger boy, who because of some tragic experiences is a bit mature (emotionally, not physically) for his age. So I think as long as I plaster warnings all over it, it may well work.

I would plaster on the warnings, especially if it would be unusual in your fandom; there do seem to be some fan readers who are very easily offended on that topic.

Yikes. My instinct - don't scrap it. Either handwave or, best of all, see if you can turn the hole into a story advantage.
