There has been a general "Aye!" to the question "Shall we keep this community going in some way?" A summary of what the community would be for is behind the cut - thank you to all who offered input (and if you think I've missed something glaringly obvious, please let me know).
***
The aim of this community is to help keep people writing.
To this end we have (at least weekly) prompts for people to post about what progress they're making and to give encouragement to others to hit their writing targets.
There are no goals other than those you set for yourself, and no compulsion beyond what you put upon yourself. There are no limits on genre, style, age, or experience, and both fiction and non-fiction are welcome.
Participants are welcome to post excerpts (rated for a general audience), ask questions and for advice, provide insight into the writing life, and so on. Although we are not a reviewing, editing, or beta-reading community, links to completed stories are also welcome.
The only thing we ask is that you help keep the atmosphere friendly and supportive.
***
All we need to do now is figure out in what form we carry on - whether to carry on here, or to reconvene at a parallel place.
A quick summary of the pros and cons of all this:
Over to you. (I'm away for the weekend and will keep the poll open till Monday.)

All we need to do now is figure out in what form we carry on - whether to carry on here, or to reconvene at a parallel place.
A quick summary of the pros and cons of all this:
- Starting a parallel community would keep
picowrimo as a distinctive space: the place where we do these special, one-off 'pushes' with daily updates (perhaps six-monthly). Running
picowrimo between times might mean it loses its unique quality.
- Staying here means this community will stay alive and won't get split up (it also means fewer communities to manage). People who don't want to participate in between times can change their membership settings so that they don't have to read every post.
