Finished off my Xmas story - a total of 2473 words! Yay!
“That’s right. I didn’t introduce myself, did I? Jackie Tyler.”
“Buffy Summers and the outskirts of Sunnydale are as far as I get.”
“I live in London most of the time.”
“Mmm, that sounds wonderful. I bet you have great shopping there. And theatre. I miss…” Buffy closed her eyes, thinking of how nice it would be to be anywhere but here, then she sat back in surprise. “Wait, what are you doing in Sunnydale?”
“I got a ride with a bloke and he has something to do. He told me to stay put.” Jackie opened up one of the bags and took out a sweater. “This beats sitting in my hotel room staring at the walls.”
“I dunno,” Buffy said, reaching for a piece of precut paper. “That actually sounds pretty good right now. Sleeping in, ordering room service.”
“Trust me, it gets lonely.” She folded the shirt and put it in a box. “I like people.”
“I used to like people until I had to deal with them every day.”
I managed to edit the exchange fic despite today having kinda sucked but at least I got this one thing I wanted to do accomplished.
I don't think I'll have much time for writing over the weekend but I hope I'll get at least some words. There is so much I want to write, I'm just always lacking energy or time.
With me, weekends are always hit or miss. I'd actually hoped to make this both a baking and writing weekend but now I'll spend a lot of time working and since that is already computer work, I'd rather spend the other time baking.
Two plain cakes, for neighbor friends and father, as well as Christmas cookies for us. Didn't get to any of that yesterday or today and tomorrow I'll probably spend most of the day on work that needs to be done by Monday, so I dunno if or to how much of that I will get.
Getting a start on Christmas baking, though I'm not sure for which recipes I have the ingredients at home since I found some new ones I like right after my last shopping trip. Got some nice marzipan cookies recipes which I might be able to do now.
Good for you, for doing some work on the story even when you probably didn't feel like it after a not so great day. Enjoy the weekend. Time to recharge!
{muttergrumble} I threw out most of the words I wrote yesterday...
On the other hand, I had to do another snippet for the course - describe the nearest object without naming it - and did one of my shabby, beloved books. People seemed to like it :)
My first workshop piece has to be sent to the tutor end of this week, and then she reads them out lous, records and posts them. I am really nervous about that bit... but the little story I had to write for the literature subject last session did well, so I'm trying to be brave.

I hear you. A few years in retail taught me that I didn't like people as much as I thought I did...

I love that last line:)

Good work for the course, though, so you're on the way of success.

And yay, on the writing success for your course. It's so encouraging when it's well-received!
