November 2020 - Day 13

Here is the place to tell us about your daily success (or the lack of it)!
May the magic be with us all!

Finished off my Xmas story - a total of 2473 words! Yay!

“That’s right. I didn’t introduce myself, did I? Jackie Tyler.”

“Buffy Summers and the outskirts of Sunnydale are as far as I get.”

“I live in London most of the time.”

“Mmm, that sounds wonderful. I bet you have great shopping there. And theatre. I miss…” Buffy closed her eyes, thinking of how nice it would be to be anywhere but here, then she sat back in surprise. “Wait, what are you doing in Sunnydale?”

“I got a ride with a bloke and he has something to do. He told me to stay put.” Jackie opened up one of the bags and took out a sweater. “This beats sitting in my hotel room staring at the walls.”

“I dunno,” Buffy said, reaching for a piece of precut paper. “That actually sounds pretty good right now. Sleeping in, ordering room service.”

“Trust me, it gets lonely.” She folded the shirt and put it in a box. “I like people.”

“I used to like people until I had to deal with them every day.”

Thanks! I hope they will be fun. I'm trying to keep them light and happy.

Woah, you've gotten so much done today!

[identity profile] spikesgirl58.livejournal.com 2020-11-14 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! I was pleased and a little surprised. :D

[identity profile] adafrog.livejournal.com 2020-11-14 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yay!

Also, amen on the last line. lol

[identity profile] spikesgirl58.livejournal.com 2020-11-14 12:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

I hear you. A few years in retail taught me that I didn't like people as much as I thought I did...

Congratulations! You are doing so well on your challenge!

I love that last line:)

[identity profile] spikesgirl58.livejournal.com 2020-11-15 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I gave myself the weekend off to breathe a bit! :D

[identity profile] sallymn.livejournal.com 2020-11-16 09:55 am (UTC)(link)
Yay indeed!!! I know very little (except by fannish osmosis) about Buffy, but this reads well!

[identity profile] spikesgirl58.livejournal.com 2020-11-16 12:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you very much!

I managed to edit the exchange fic despite today having kinda sucked but at least I got this one thing I wanted to do accomplished.

I don't think I'll have much time for writing over the weekend but I hope I'll get at least some words. There is so much I want to write, I'm just always lacking energy or time.

[identity profile] adafrog.livejournal.com 2020-11-14 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Great!

Yeah, I don't write on the weekend, either. :)

With me, weekends are always hit or miss. I'd actually hoped to make this both a baking and writing weekend but now I'll spend a lot of time working and since that is already computer work, I'd rather spend the other time baking.

Two plain cakes, for neighbor friends and father, as well as Christmas cookies for us. Didn't get to any of that yesterday or today and tomorrow I'll probably spend most of the day on work that needs to be done by Monday, so I dunno if or to how much of that I will get.

[identity profile] adafrog.livejournal.com 2020-11-15 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. What are you going to bake?

Getting a start on Christmas baking, though I'm not sure for which recipes I have the ingredients at home since I found some new ones I like right after my last shopping trip. Got some nice marzipan cookies recipes which I might be able to do now.

I found some new ones I like right after my last shopping trip.
lol Of course.

I'm so sorry that you had a bad day. I hope resting this weekend will make you feel better!

[personal profile] artemis10002000 2020-11-14 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I dunno how much rest I'll get this weekend since it will be a busy one but hopefully at least some time to do relaxing things.

[identity profile] akane42me.livejournal.com 2020-11-15 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Good for you, for doing some work on the story even when you probably didn't feel like it after a not so great day.
Enjoy the weekend. Time to recharge!

[personal profile] artemis10002000 2020-11-15 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you, hopefully there will be some time for recharging though I have to work this weekend. I did take it easy yesterday as much as I could.

[identity profile] sallymn.livejournal.com 2020-11-16 09:56 am (UTC)(link)
Well done :)

[identity profile] sallymn.livejournal.com 2020-11-13 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
{muttergrumble} I threw out most of the words I wrote yesterday...

On the other hand, I had to do another snippet for the course - describe the nearest object without naming it - and did one of my shabby, beloved books. People seemed to like it :)

[identity profile] adafrog.livejournal.com 2020-11-14 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Good that they liked it. :)

[identity profile] sallymn.livejournal.com 2020-11-16 09:57 am (UTC)(link)
It was a relief. No matter how much fanfic I've posted over the years, this feels different.

[identity profile] spikesgirl58.livejournal.com 2020-11-14 12:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, no. Never throw stuff out, just put it in a 'I'll do that later' file.

I remember doing that in writing class.

[identity profile] sallymn.livejournal.com 2020-11-16 09:58 am (UTC)(link)
I di tend to keep old drafts - lots of old drafts, sometimes a heap for one story :)

[identity profile] spikesgirl58.livejournal.com 2020-11-16 12:20 pm (UTC)(link)
That's what I do, too. Everything gets used now and again.

[identity profile] sallymn.livejournal.com 2020-11-16 10:00 am (UTC)(link)
My first workshop piece has to be sent to the tutor end of this week, and then she reads them out lous, records and posts them. I am really nervous about that bit... but the little story I had to write for the literature subject last session did well, so I'm trying to be brave.

[identity profile] akane42me.livejournal.com 2020-11-15 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Well, at least you didn't throw them all out! Sometimes those words have to be written before the ones you really want show up.

And yay, on the writing success for your course. It's so encouraging when it's well-received!

[identity profile] sallymn.livejournal.com 2020-11-16 10:01 am (UTC)(link)
It's a relief. The writing subject is far more nerve-wracking than literature or history, maybe because I have to put myself out more.

[identity profile] akane42me.livejournal.com 2020-11-16 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree. I took a creative writing class, several years ago, a non-credit at the community college. Sharing Time just about killed my nerves:)

[identity profile] adafrog.livejournal.com 2020-11-14 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Finished my essay and posted. yay!

[identity profile] spikesgirl58.livejournal.com 2020-11-14 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Rock on! Now you can play this weekend with a clear conscience.

[identity profile] adafrog.livejournal.com 2020-11-15 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Yay!

[identity profile] adafrog.livejournal.com 2020-11-15 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

[identity profile] akane42me.livejournal.com 2020-11-15 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, how excellent! Congratulations!

[identity profile] adafrog.livejournal.com 2020-11-15 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks.

[identity profile] candidlily.livejournal.com 2020-11-14 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
1607 words today, mostly written this morning (thank goodness) as I am exhausted now from a long, long day.

[identity profile] spikesgirl58.livejournal.com 2020-11-14 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Good for you. I do most of my writing in the mornings. It's my best creative time.

[identity profile] akane42me.livejournal.com 2020-11-15 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
That is fantastic! Awesome!

[identity profile] sallymn.livejournal.com 2020-11-16 09:56 am (UTC)(link)
That's a good haul of words :)
