I have been writing — but not fic.

I do think, though, that the years of fic writing helped when I had to write for work and, this time, as I was writing 'how to' instructions for two family craft projects to send out to our church children for Easter, as we are not able to meet.

I managed to explain the paper plate art in 175 words and one picture — it took more like 400 words to explain the story of Easter by making pecan meringues :)

It is a very simple silhouette of the crosses against a dramatic sky — it had to be something easy, just like making the palm branches.

Thank you. Writing for 8 year olds is good practice for making sure everything is clear — at least I hope it is clear :)

Got in another hour or so this morning, I should be ready for the deadline (which runs through Easter Monday, the 5th). Basically making sure now that I don't start to get too ambitious and expand the story beyond the mood piece that it now is!! I keep telling myself that it's not necessary to explain everything ;)

But... but if you don't explain everything you'll be keeping valuable inside information from your poor readers! *g*
At least this way of thinking is what leads to the unhealthy amount of detail that gets into my stories every time.

I wrote a mental health post about why I object to the use of the term antisocial for those who are not social. I find it confusing and unfairly stigmatizing when the personality disorder is vastly different.

I let go of the last couple of days of this pico season. I was simply useless lately, and now that the pressure is off me I can actually enjoy other people's reports.

Day 30: A good three hours today. It's going slowly but okay, with just a bit unfinished at the end.
Tomorrow as I comb through it with edits and tweaks, I have to find spots where I can add some believable pre-slash.

Once again I have changed course on an assignment. I realized one of my fics is skirting a 'do not want' from the recipient, so I'm saving it as a treat for someone else and writing something new for my main assignment. I swear, no matter how meticulously you check things, sometimes things sneak up on you! It probably would've been fine, but I'd rather know for sure my recip is likely to be happy.

Anyway, 660 words on the new fic, and feeling good about finishing it on time, so all is well.
