July 2021, Day 13

Here is the place to tell us about your daily success (or the lack of it)!
May the magic be with us all!

Sorry for going AWOL, spent the weekend with Wimbledon, football and Tour de France. Also some baseball. Honestly, why can't they space this out more, who has time to write!!!

Nevertheless, I did write the last two days :) I was frustrated with the progress of the story, and decided to try to distill the feeling into a poem of some kind just for the hell of it. And you know, it sort of worked. I mean it's not a good poem, and may never be so--but the emotional landscape of the story has become clearer to me and I've been able to add around 300 new words. Fingers crossed I can keep it up!

Another couple of exercises for my unit, about 800 words in all :) The first one was another random word thing but more as inspiration than 'you must use them' and maybe in reaction to yesterday's sombre piece this was an unabashedly nonsense dialogue that started with blue icing and somehow ended up being about edible baby zombies...
"How many zombie movies have you seen? I bet I've seen more, and I've never seen the humans eat the zombies."
"Well, maybe someone should make a movie about edible zombies. It's be different."
"Edible zombies."
"Yep."
"Made of icing."

The other was meant to be a letter to someone we were annoyed with, so I had the sort of fun with invective I can't in real life :)

I decided I needed to make an effort to finish something, so tidied up the Burns and Scott post - that only took 56 words, so I wrote another 45 about the walk. What I really need to do is not leave writing to be the last thing I do every night...

(I like the name Sciennes, which has both an odd pronunciation (sheens) and an odd derivation (from a convent dedicated to St Catherine of Sienna))
