Also, beside the Christmas gift-fics, I'll be mainly working on completing the insanely complicated "Pathways" timeline. Currently I've done the seasons 1995-96, 1996-97, 1997-98 and 1998-99. The fandoms involved are: Buffy, Angel, Kindred: The Embraced, Poltergeist: The Legacy, Queer as Folk (US), The Guardian, Charmed, Blood Ties and Moonlight, so far, Unless I've forgotten a few. In any case, bringing them in sync time-wise and adding the AU notes where necessary is gargantuan work, and I doubt I'll be done during this session. Still, every little step counts as progress, right?

My plan is to get as far as possible with my Christmas exchange fic for MFU. I promise not to whine extensively about my "prompts" (we get three usually) except for this once. I didn't get prompts per se, just a request for h/c, specifying which character is H and which is C. In other words, the usual for 90% of the fics in the fandom...

I don't normally like h/c.

So I am trying to come up with a plot that can pass for h/c while going somewhere more interesting for me to write about.

So today was for making notes, looking over some miscellaneous scenes I discarded to see if there's anything there I can use, and reading up a bit on what might be interesting locations.

I'm going to try to double up and do 100 words about a book and 100 words on something else - but we'll see how I go, because it's a long time since I've managed even the bare hundred...

I spent much of the day starting to get set up for my uni subject over summer (starts next week). It's a creative writing elective, so should be good, lots of reading as well as exercise.

Anyone remember those little bits I posted last time about a character in a book finding out she was slated to die? I used that as the base for a little story for my second assignment for the subject that I've just finished - and I got a high distinction! {bounce} I am going to do some final reworking and then maybe send it in for a competition later in the year...

I also have a Secret Santa story to write (and as yet no ideas, story of my life) and will be trying to write some original fiction as well as maybe fannish drabbles/flashfics. I think that will be enough for now :)

I hope to finish two part written chapters of WIPs.

Today I actually did some very different writing though. I am a volunteer in a project called Unlocking our Sound Heritage and today I spent about an hour listening to, and writing notes about, the first half of a recording made in 1998, with a gentleman who was in his 60s at the time, about his life in the hotel trade. I wrote a little over 2 pages of notes. Once I have listened to the whole recording I will condense all my notes down into a short resumé of the topics covered, and a list specific hotels and people that he mentions, and send it back to the archivists at our local museum.

My plan for this session is to work on my assignment for a Man from U.N.C.L.E. Christmas exchange.

Day 1: I spent the first half hour of my writing time on a different story (hah! I'm already veering off course).
Then I spent a half hour finding my assignment, writing it in a notebook, and thinking up story ideas based on the prompts I received.
No ideas other than to have Napoleon Solo held captive in the bell tower of an old church.
Then I drank coffee and read a book (Green Mars) and did laundry (whites and towels).

I'll be working on lots of exchange and holiday fics this month! Yuletide and Heart Attack exchange for sure, plus hopefully some progress on stuff due later.

Mostly editing today, but I started a little bit of my next fic. 528 words!
