Nothing for me today. We had cleaning day, and I'm having a bad day anyway, mentally, so today I'm aiming for pure survival.

Anyone remember I mentioned a dream about a spider the first week of the month? I got an idea to combine it with spider-demons-ghosts I was reading about (my big beloved book of Japanese Supernatural. I might add, said idea came to me in the middle of the night, not the best time to be thinking about possibly scary things but oh well...) I'm going to try and white the details out just in case (I have friends who are terrified of spiders and would never dream of telling them said details... Yep. I'm writing ideas and notes and imagery for a horror fantasy like that.

(And I learned how to hide text, I may not ever need to use it again, but all knowledge is valuable :)

What a dream! As much as i might appreciate spiders' role in the hierarchy of bugs, I'd just as soon not meet an oversized one :D Sounds like a great idea for a story though.

Umm. Although actually that reminds me of an Enid Blyton kids' book where they challenge a bad wizard that he can't make himself small enough to fit in a tiny bottle, and when he does they put the cork in and keep him there :D

I have not written much for the past 2 or 3 days, although I have posted the chapter completed to 2 out of 3 places.

But I have reopened the other WIP to read the current chapter in progress and see where it needs to go — and I am really happy to see that it is longer than I remembered it.

Tomorrow I get my covid booster jab — I am hoping it doesn't make me feel too bad to write as I am now raring to get on with it!

Good for you getting the jab! Got mine last Friday with very minor effects compared to how I felt after the second shot.

As usual, not much done over the weekend, and today was a combination of plumber & contractor dealings, and a later drive into the city for a long, leisurely dinner with old friends back for a visit to NY for the first time since the pandemic. It was just like old times, it was fantastic :) No chores in sight tomorrow, so expect to get some writing done. I'm in the mood now!

Thanks so much to everyone who wished me luck yesterday! Happy to report that it helped — I sat down (over a few different writing sessions) today and managed 1,248 words!! With more days like that, I might actually make the deadline for this exchange!

Oh, I went to the library, and to the NLS to look at a book for the fadedpage people, only their copy turned out to be abridged. And made two cakes (well, two cakes worth of the same mixture), and watched Only Connect, and spent too much time reading library books. I suppose that explains why I wrote so little.

Their home when they settled in Scotland was at Millburn Tower, about half a mile away - I wasn't sure if there was anything left of the house, because I'd walked down that way before and didn't remember seeing it, but I thought I'd go down and have another look.
