More editing and fixing on TNTAML last night. I am trying to get a hard copy printed out so I can deliver it to a friend I will be seeing later today. Because not much of the writing is new, here's a bit that isn't new that I just like. It's Ges and his sister, just before she marries Aral, and yeah, um, things between them are a bit twisted:

Before the ceremony, Ges's sister approached him, reached up, and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Her gown was blush-pink, fitted to the waist and laced down the front, and daringly low-cut enough that he could only imagine the arguments that must have preceeded its purchase. "How do I look?" she asked him, with a grin. She knew what he'd seen as she had stretched up to him.

"Absolutely edible. Your new husband has much to look forward to." He kept an edge of flirtation in his voice. You know that I know that you know... "Now, I need to see to Aral. And the next time we speak, you'll be his wife." Ges smiled and headed for the groom's chamber.

Thanks for all the prompts, Altariel. First draft of the paper is completely done -- it weighed in at twenty-five pages (not counting title page and sources) and 6,699 words (counting said title and sources). First draft is with the professor awaiting comments, and I'm sure it will grow by a page or two when I get those comments back.

It's amazing how time-consuming the final edit can be. Immense kudos for getting the project so close to completion.

If only I could be bothered to write more... But I'm getting there.

we had too much in common. I was a girl, she was a girl… It would never work out.

Well done! Sometimes things just find their own pace -- the most important thing is to keep on plugging away.

I'm been prescriped extra strong painkillers to tide me over until I get to a doctor, so at the moment I can't feel a thing below my elbows, lol

Ugh! Wednesday and Thursday being washouts is turning into a pattern. Busy both 22nd and 23rd, and too tired late in the evening.

On the positive side ... I worked overtime earlier in the week and was at 78.35% by the end of Tuesday. By my reckoning I should be on 77% by the end of 23rd day. So 4330 words in seven days is quite doable, if I can avoid washing out too often -- speaking of which, I really should put the laundry on ;)

Extract:
As Rachelle walked out of earshot, Gil frowned at her. “All right, Kay. Why don’t you explain what’s going on?”
Krista started. “What do you mean?”
“Look. I’m grateful for the help, but what aren’t telling me? I know you think I’m too trusting. All right, I’ll try not to be,” He clasped his hands together. “And I’ll start by not trusting you.” His face was strained, he looked at the floor then back at her. “So who you are?”
Krista was surprised at how calm she felt. If her father or Sir Rammel thought he suspected her, she had no idea what they would do, but she did not want to find out.

22 percent is definitely feasible.

Not much done today - at least partly because it was a CWIL night. On the other hand, I knocked out maybe a hundred words and made a start on planning of chapter 6.

Well done for keeping gnawing away at it -- I think that's the main thing.

Did I hear that right? You're starting planning of chapter 6?
If I recall right, when you started Pico, you were sceptical if you'd finish chapter 4.
Congrats !!!

406 today. A bit workaday, but I'm working in some plot points at last. I fear you'll have to do without an extract, as I can't find one that's not entirely spoilerific...

Plot points are good -- necessary, even.

Indeed! It's all too easy to let this lot natter on to no particular purpose, and forget what they're meant to be doing. Sometimes that means that the plot outline didn't work, but sometimes just putting one's authorial foot down and saying 'Do this!' seems to be the best solution.

Just 140 words tonight, but at least that keeps me on track for making the target.
