Dear All

[livejournal.com profile] espresso_addict and I have been bandying about the idea of having weekly post-Pico check-ins to help folks who are still finishing up stories or rushing towards a mid/late December deadline and so on. Same format as Pico with updates on writing progress and an excerpt, if possible.

I could put up the weekly post on 7 and 14 December and I believe, [livejournal.com profile] espresso_addict can do 21 December. After that we could have a break and see if anyone was interested in carrying on in January.

Is anyone else interested in this idea? If yes, please comment below with thoughts, suggestions, stream of consciousness...

(Yes, it might be called Pico-withdrawal.)

ETA: OK. December is a go! See you all on the 7th! :-D

Selfishly, I'd love that, because I started my second draft sprint a bit late on in the Pico process and would love to chance to be able to check in with others still working. My deadline is the 17th, because that is when I will be having drinks with Agent and Publisher Bloke and I want it to be in her inbox and off my desk :)

I like the idea of a weekly check in for December. I can use the push to finish the exchange story! And I can poke [livejournal.com profile] saki101 :)

Once a week seems very manageable, everyone can take their time commenting and responding and we can minimize the withdrawal pangs.

I am definitely in. The weekly format seems manageable - perhaps we can take monthly turns to put up the posts?

Do you want me to put up the December 28 post?

I'm definitely pro some December check-ins. It will provide that vital external prodding to keep me going.

I can ignore any deadline I set myself, but a deadline in front of other people is a much more effective form of accountability!

Excellent! I can probably do the 21st (as long as the situation I've alluded to a few times doesn't boil up again).

I can help with the 21st if necessary. I'll be at the computer doing last minute edits anyway ;)

Yay! I have a nearly 6 hour train journey on the 21st, and as I managed to get a cheap first class ticket and will thus have space, I'm hoping to spend a good portion of it writing.

I do have to change trains after the first hour, which will waste time, but after that it is a train ride with boring scenery and free alcohol. Surely I can't fail!

I'm definitely in favour - as I need to prodding to help get my Yuletide story finished. It would be nice to keep going for longer, as I'd like to stay in the habit of writing, something I often fail at in the bits after the deadlines. I hope the weekly schedule will make it easier for me to comment and keep up.
