I've been writing 200-300 words a day on my yuletide offering these past few days. I'm very conflicted as to whether they're any good but I suspect that's par for the course when writing against a deadline.

I'm sure you're right ... anyone with strong editing instincts will feel uneasy if they've not rewritten it a few times. But better I think to keep writing and re-edit when done. If only I had the will-power to resist my own editing instincts ;)

I fear I find the editing an unavoidable part of the moving forwards process, at least with descriptive material. I tend to get down a skeleton then flesh it out in edits. I do a bit better with dialogue.
