So, am I here at my lonesome again? Well, it doesn't matter. I have things to be proud of, and I'll boast just the same.
Soooo, I've finished Chapter 10 of An Excellent Mystery (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10472377/1/An-Excellent-Mystery). It isn't posted yet, but it is finished, and I've started working on the next chapter already.
Excerpt: He was grateful for Mary’s presence; more grateful than he could express. As a doctor, he was used to tell people bad news, but this… this was different. This not only required a womanly touch, this also required the understanding and compassion of someone who had known similar losses. And who would be better at comforting a grieving mother and sister than Mary Watson (née Morstan) who had already lost so much in her young life?
Also, I've bravely faced the colorful beta-ed chapter of doom, made the necessary corrections and posted it. It is from the "Enterprise" story and can be read here (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11947705/9/Enterprise-The-Maiden-Voyage).
And thirdly, I've posted the last chronological chapter of Prophecy & Change, the Babylon 5/Crusade AU, set in the same 'verse as "Second Chances". It is here (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10726600/9/Prophecy-Change). I'm a bit worried about the story, which I actually like very much. But my co-author begged out of it, and between the last chapter she actually write and the point where the plot is now at least another chapter would be necessary, I won't be able to continue for a while. This part was supposed to be hers. *sigh*
Nonetheless, I'm fairly pleased with the last two days. If you're interested in my domestic activities (including food pr0n pics), they posted to my personal journal. ;))
Sorry to hear about the snags with Prophecy & Change - always a danger with working with other people, I suppose. Hope you're able to fill the gap without too much difficulty.
Well, she had a baby in the years in-between, so I can't really blame her. Plus, she generously agreed to have me finish the story alone and turn it from a tongue-in-cheek parody to a serious one, so... We were so subtle with the parody anyway that people took us seriously. No-one realized we were writing a deliberate Mary Sue. *g*
That's very true. Sapphire and Steel, while not disappointed, was short lived and it had so many possibilities. Oh, well, at least it keeps me off the streets at night.
Not a huge amount of writing today, and nothing I can share - I was queueing up blog posts for the next few weeks. Feeling generally positive about life and the novel, though!
I've fallen down again, family emergency makes for worrying which doesn't make for writing... so I've spent a couple of days trying to distract myself by watching my fannish shows. I guess I could call it research...
Hey, watching comfort telly is good for the soul! Which shows did you watch? I'm woefully beyond anything new, I'm afraid. I always manage to miss the beginning of a new show, and then I'm just too tired to do all the research that would be needed to hop on the wagon mid-way and still understand what's going on.
Pretty much all of the shows I'm fannish about are closed canons - I have been watching SG1, SGA, The Sentinel and some NCIS (a mild fandom and okay, it's not closed but I like S3-about 9 best anyway. And I love McGee)
I've been so bad about posting this weekend. I did get two stories up (1798 and 889 respectively), along with the usual weekend stuff and getting read for a luau. It takes a long time to design an invitation...
Read about a new writing group, but you can only join if you have been publish or are working on a manuscript. That seems a little self serving to me. A friend of mine has joined - he's a very correct but dictating writer. I don't think you should bully your readers into emotions and that's what he does. So, even though I have been published and always have a manuscript of some sort going, I won't be joining.
It just such a snobby sounding group, you know what I mean? It should be a group for people who love to write. They said in the article that anyone suffering from writer's block need not apply. This was a group for people who were actively pursuing professional publication. How rude is that?
Busy, busy day
