I have a page of new stuff for today. No outlines and plotting ahead this time around. I decided I'm just going to think deep thoughts (stops here to laugh uncontrollably) and write a page in the notebook. I did make a couple of notes for things I want to write about next - that's it for advance planning!
No snippets, because it's a surprise!

I use plotting ahead as an excuse for not writing :D I think writing a page in your notebook is a lot more valuable!

No actual writing today as I was barely at home. I did some plotting, though, having revamped the concept of "Intersections" in recent days. So, instead of a two-part prologue, there will be a first part to the entire story - an AU version of the DW episodes "The Stolen Earth/Journey's End", and then a second, much longer part, which is the CoE fix-it. The latter has been outlined in detail for years, but now I've got a vague idea what the first part will look like, and even a tiny bit of written stuff.

Excerpt:

Being torn out roughly from intertemporal travel was nothing new for the last of the Time Lords generally known as The Doctor. It had happened to him countless time during his 900-year-old existence and, he assumed, it was going to happen again often enough. However, being torn out of his transfer by a monumental outburst of spatio-temporal energy and crash-landing on the planet Earth in the early 21st century was a novum.

I like that! I have missed the way in the early days the Doctor never knew or could control where the TARDIS ended up each time....

Like I said, not much time or energy, but I did take time out to read through my various WIPs to see if I could work out why they stalled (big surprise, mostly because of my problems with plot) and a few prompts on various forums for inspiration. I do think my forte (such as it is :) tends to be short mood pieces.... flash fiction?

I get stuck on plot too. The story lines good in your head but when you try to work them out on paper, oh boy.
Go ahead and write short if that's what's working now!

Plots are tricky. Mine work wonderfully for the first 15 chapters or so, spawning subplots left, right and center, and when I think I'm on the roll, I get stuck with the whole thing for years. Literally.

Oops, a day behind. I'll post today's progress report later then.

For the first day, yesterday, I opened my WIP, realized how much work it needed, and started to jot down notes for the short piece that's due at the end of the month :)
