I found an available computer at work, so I thought I'd put up today's post a bit earlier.

Here is the place to talk about your progress (or the lack of it) and share bits with us.
May the magic be with us all!

BTW, I need someone to make tomorrow's post. I'll be at work all day, and it's doubtful that I would get this chance again.

I'll be happy to, if you'd like.

I managed around 30 minutes this morning. I was working on dialogue, basically a phone call. Just lines back and forth right now, no attempt at descriptions fleshing the scene out. A few lines below; this is all part of setting up the plot. Speakers are Waverly and an old friend and former colleague. The old friend line is a bit weak, it's filler right now till I come up with something better.
(It looks like you have a volunteer for tomorrow's post. But if necessary, I can step in too)

I already talked to Julian. I was waiting for your call Gabhail, I could almost have set my watch by it.

We've known each other too long Alexander.

They do say the best mirror is an old friend.

And are you coming?

I don't know, getting away for a week is difficult...

It's 1970 Alex. There are satellites, communicators, telephones. And you do have a minimally competent staff. The organization will survive. I think it'll be good for you--and it will be good to see you.

Writing just the dialogue is such a great way to lay the foundation of a scene.

Is this for your Egg? I really should zip through the previous pico posts to get a feel for what folks are working on!

This is not the Egg. The egg shall remain a secret except for some grumbling and suchlike ;)

This is the same wip I was working on for a while in November. I agree with you, a few lines of dialogue are a great way to work your way into a scene!

Yeah, well, I thought I'd ask;) Beginning next week, we could designate Wednesdays as Whining Day!

Dialogue is always so beautifully character-driven. The personalities just shine.

I'm glad you're getting words down!

I hate it when they mess up everything with unnecessary meetings and crap. it just puts everything that much farther behind.

Gahhh. It does sound like a lousy week.

I hope RL eases up next week so you have time to relax and enjoy some writing time. Hang in there.

Ugh, other than my writing last Friday, motivation has been so hard to come by. I haven't worked on any of my fics since then. I'm so annoyed with myself.

I hope so! Doesn't help that my best writing time is after midnight, but these past days I've been half asleep by 8

I don't think so, not really, but I'll try to get some fresh air in general, that might help.

Don't get down on yourself! Can you write on a different schedule if it's hard to stay up late?

Hmmm it's worth a try. I usually write so late since I'm undisturbed then but I'll try.

I missed three days in a row, in spite of having my writing notebook with me at all times:) I was off having fun with my sisters and just didn't want to write! I was feeling guilty about it, but decided I shouldn't feel that way, and just get back to writing when I got home.

I often don't feel like writing, or can't think of what to write, or how to get what I want to say out on the paper. I find that reading/reviewing my WIP(s) can help kick-start things.

That's a good point, maybe I'll give re-reading that 600 words start I have a try and see if inspiration comes then.

But as for you, sounds like you had some fun days! That was a well-deserved writing break.

Don't feel guilty for having fun! I've also found that reading wips makes me want to edit/rewrite a bit here and there and that often leads to expanding and writing something new.

Being exhausted doesn't help matters along at all, I know. It's tough sometimes just to get the words out. Perhaps resting more will help refill the well?

I've been rewatching Heroes for some reason. Ah, the nostalgia. If only it had ended at Season 1. (I still have a Sylar icon! OH MAN.)

Here's today's drabble:

Peter Petrelli had always dreamed of flying.

The first thing he ever bought with his hard-earned allowance at the age of 8 was a Superman comic. He'd never be bulletproof, but something about the way Clark Kent saw the world captured his attention.

The real dreams started after he turned 26. What had once been a childhood fantasy suddenly felt like a latent ability, something he could do if he could just figure out how to unlock it.

His brother wouldn't believe him. No one would. But then he'd done it. Proved himself.

Maybe he'd been Clark Kent all along.

Nice atmosphere, the progression from childhood fantasy to grabbing hold of a dream and making it real.

I guess I forgot to post yesterday. Mostly I just jiggled words around and thought about a new Easter Egg. It's getting warm and wonderful out - so hard to stay at the computer and write.
