Lookie! I has a snippet! Just half a page done today, but after I've finished the folding box I felt the urge to do something for my Dwarves, too.
Excerpt:
“You wouldnae entrust them to Dori?” he asked. “You are of the same Clan, after all.”
“I could have,” said Balin,” But Glóin is family. Besides, can you imagine my Yrsa and the Lady Ai in the same travelling group? There would be bloodshed after the first ten leagues, at the latest.”
“After the first five, if my wife were with them,” Dáin chuckled. Dwarrow-dams were fiercely competitive, especially high-born ones who were trained as warriors; and their mates adored them for it.
Naturally! Ro and I established the idea that they basically have a matriarchate (since canonically the males outnumber the females 4:1 and therefore the females are much valued) and that female warriors are nothing short terrifying. Ro insisted that they ought to be larger than the males, too, but I didn't follow that idea in my stories. I'm very fond of my Dwarves, though.
This was the first day I wrote anything for about a week - ~1100 of new walk report as I travelled down the country (2 hours of ferry, 4 hours of train, 2 hours of bus! I mostly dozed on the ferry and knitted on the bus, though.)
But I've done a lot more new walks, so there's still plenty to do!
