One last effort, my friends, before pre-Christmas frenzy overtakes us all...
Here is the place to tell us about your daily success (or the lack of it)!
May the magic be with us all!

on 2018-11-25 06:23 pm (UTC)It sounds like you had fun coming up with all the details, at least.

on 2018-11-26 07:01 pm (UTC)It's the world-building and background stuff that tends to run away from me. As somebody said in one of the earlier pico sessions, it hurts not to share all that wonderful research. *g*

on 2018-11-26 07:30 pm (UTC)1. why can't the research be a stand-alone piece in and of itself?
2. have you heard or ever read Tales of Nevèrÿon?
if one is getting that much /inside/ a world and exploring the archeology (for want of a better word) of that world, then it is purely logical imo to be looking at producing supporting documentation - we have maps of these worlds, we have language for these worlds in terms of translations of each characters dialects, therefore why wouldn't we things like what they would read, or enjoy themselves? in exploring that 'other world' culture, we are as writers some strange anthropologists unearthing as we go...
i'll shut up now...

on 2018-11-25 09:16 pm (UTC)Between the holiday and now, I've been steadily going from feeling under the weather with sore throat and headache to a bad cold. I'm just wrung out. Wednesday and Thursday were very busy with all things Thanksgiving, and for three days since, I've been mostly resting, reading, napping, and sleeping.
I wrote a little bit on Friday, only a half-page, but enough to get a complete thought on paper. And this morning I thought of a different spin I could give to a scene that just wasn't sitting well, and got a nice start on that before I ran out of steam. Fingers crossed for energy, and some productive writing days for the remainder of Pico.

on 2018-11-26 02:23 pm (UTC)sometimes being enforced to rest gives rise to new ideas. if only we could be so disciplined as to see resting as part of the process!

on 2018-11-25 11:17 pm (UTC)Steam as a method of power was not at all new by this stage - the first Newcomen pumping engines were nearly 100 years old, and it was more than 20 years since Watt had invented a way for his improved engine to produce rotary motion
