B5 is a very cool show indeed. Even though JMS had to mess it up at the end. The end of the Shadow War was woefully anticlimactic; something I intend to change in this AU.

Especially how it was solved! For all that JMS and the cast mouthed off being so much better than Star Trek, Sheridan pulled the worst "Kirk talks the enemy to death" trick ever seen on television. At least the original Trek had the excuse of being a 1960s show with no fancy computer tricks and a tiny budget. What's JMS's excuse for such a cheap solution? Thinking of something better wouldn't have made his budget explode, methinks.

okay, you've done it now, you've got me started..... i'm into the realms of ferretconspiracy here, but the moment in any scifi when something really good is going on, the executive powers that be pull a Friedberger and the writing goes to pot. it's like some alarm bell goes off and someone says "we can't do this, it's too good, and the ideas are too intense it's like staring into the sun of truth, kill it, kill it now." so we end up with something that's like having the air sucked out. very odd, very jarring. they did it with Stargate Universe too, just when it was getting good, they pulled the plug on the story arc and killed it.
