No writing for me today. Instead, it was a morning of running around doing chores and cleaning the house.

I had meant to post in yesterday's comments that I actually wrote about 1.400 words for an entry at [livejournal.com profile] monthlydiaryday - and then realised it is a group where posts are only visible to members (although I would think more members would be very welcome!).

I discussed the weather, the corona virus's shadow looming over my daughter's wedding and honeymoon in two weeks time, and someone who had turned up in my journal to berate me for being selfish for worrying about that!

Today I have managed to polish up another drabble that follows directly from the one I posted a couple of days ago - it is here (https://tolkien-weekly.livejournal.com/1264108.html) if you are interested.

The weird thing is that they aren't on my FList - I had not changed that post to Friends only when I posted it although I often do with family stuff. But goodness knows how he happened onto my post anyway. Perhaps he was doing a LJ search for corona virus just so he could be rude to people!

I did FLock it to stop him being able to come back and say anything more though! I think I might go back and block him totally just to be on the safe side.

I'm sorry you had to deal with a meanie. What the hell is wrong with people.

It was a very strange comment - I answered it rather sarcastically by thanking him for his kind words although I wanted to get snarky - but decided it wasn't worth entering a dialogue. It wasn't actually anyone I knew - I had left it unlocked as quite a few of my posts are - but I just went back and Friends Locked it when I saw that particular comment so they couldn't make any more nuisance comments.

That someone sounds like too holier than thou for me. Of course, we like many people are worried about the effect on our own life and loved ones, that doesn't take away in the slightest from the fact that we care about all the more seriously affected people. And her wedding....

My niece's organisation of her wedding was thrown into chaos by the bushfires, and it's this weekend so her honeymoon, like your daughter's, is affected. I wasn't able to go, and was looking forward to watching skating this weekend which has been cancelled, like so many sporting events. I'm disappointed, and not ashamed of it.

Well done on the drabble!

Thank you. I really feel for your niece - this time I can honestly say I know what her family have been going through!

I am glad their wedding was able to go ahead - in the end it is the important part of the whole thing and I reckon if your niece and her husband, and my daughter and her fiancé, have had such a rough ride to reach that point they will probably find any other problems in the future to be easier to face.

Really? Really? People are so awful at times. I think you have every right to be worried about something like that. *hugs*

Thank you. I was rather taken aback by a stranger turning up in my journal and telling me my selfishness made him sick!

I did not get involved though I was very tempted.

No writing yesterday. I spent the day cooking and cleaning, and then rewarded myself with several hours of reading:) And we met friends for beers after supper, so I was in no condition to write after we got home. Although I've heard stories of writers who get extra creative after a few drinks, I am not one of those:)

So - after another long day of more cleaning - we are having company tomorrow, and I've just been in the mood to spiff things up around here now that we're seeing signs of Spring after weeks of gloomy winter hanging on to the last gasp - where was I?

Oh yes. Writing. I spent a double writing session this afternoon, so I made up for yesterday's time. The story is a mess, but it's coming along.

I don't think I'll have time to write tomorrow, but I will try to do some at the beginning of the day. Company arrives at noon and stays until well into the evening. A birthday party for our daughter-in-law.

Sunday I definitely will not be around. I'm boarding a bus first thing in the morning to go with a group of friends to see 'Guys and Dolls' in a town two hours away from here. I'm having some anxiety about it because of cautions to avoid being in close contact with people. I will bring a bottle of hand sanitizer and hope for the best.

Me neither. It sounds as if you are having a good few days even if not doing a lot of writing :)

Sounds like a lot of folks sort of took the day off. I think you need to now and again.

Oo, I love Guys and Dolls - it's one of my favorite musicals. I won an award for designing ours. Rocking the Boat and Luck, Be a Lady are my favorite pieces in it... hmm. I wonder where that DVD is....

Not much serious writing, but I did get and scribbled down three possible plot bunny ideas - two involving odd aliens (I had a dream about those adorable plants that look like aliens I mentioned on my journal a few weeks back, and it gave me some thoughts on idea for adorable and evil alien invaders :), another about naming things on new planets and would people fight over it -? One about haunted pressed flowers, and one about chocolate.

Yes, my brain was in a strange place today...

Ps - here's a picture of the plants, click to enlarge....

Don't they? Their real name is Darwin's Slipper, I found them on this page of Flowers That Look Like Something Else (http://earthporm.com/17-flowers-look-like-something-else/) and totally fell in love :)

170 words on the little hill and 375 on General Wade - but I'm more pleased with my progress than the numbers suggest, because I feel like I really have made a start on the second one.

although a disarming act had led some clans to hand over weapons others had not, while those handed in were often old and useless – there was even a suspicion that cheap weapons had been bought in from Holland purely to be handed over for the reward.
