Almost three pages today, which means that Chapter 11 is finished - not the story itself, though. I decided to split the chapter in two because it was so depressingly long, so I got a tiny bit of ego boost for finishing the first half. *g*
Excerpt:
“Our ETA is…” Stone consulted his invisible navigator, “in roughly forty-two minutes. Stay where you are and try looking for Uhura, using the scanners. Stone out.” “Aye, sir,” Nored replied to the empty screen; then she rose. “You heard the commodore. We remain in observation mode.” Davidson shrugged. “Fine with me; although I can’t see what he hopes to achieve. He doesn’t have the firepower to roast the bugs’ asses; and thy sure as hell wouldn’t listen to him.” “We’ll see,” Nored said. “It wouldn’t be the first time for Hannibal Stone to face impossible odds and emerge victoriously. The man is a legend for a reason, and I for my part can’t wait to see him in action.” “Be careful what you wish for,” Leila Kalomi warned. “You might get it; and you might not like it.”
Believe me, I know the feeling. While waiting for my retirement, I expected to be writing like crazy once I'm home for good... well, we both know what happened.
I was thinking of actually going out to the library or a cafe or something for a while every couple of days so I'm away from distractions (like internet), but that's not going to be on for a while...
Without phone calls, about the only thing there is to do is answer and file mail. I'm normally off today, so I'm just doing what I usually do. Monday will be the challenge.
Today was bedlam at work - no, I am not involved in tomorrow's work from home trial but everyone - literally everyone - else in the division is doing it, and of course at least half of 'em don't yet know what they are doing and their systems aren't yet set up and they don't know if they will work and they don't even have a computer or enough access and.... whole everyone - literally everyone - else in the division tried to sort themselves out (chickens with heads cut off would probably have been more organised... and quieter) I was trying to cover the phones and emails and... you get the picture.
Bedlam Down Under.
So I got home, opened my computer and writing folder... and about three words in, promptly fell asleep over my spag bol dinner.
lol Really just the people at work. And our responses to the idiotic things the management office keeps trying to make us do to keep control of the situation. :p

Yeah, I know the feeling. In a way, I'm almost grateful for the never-ending transcribing job. It is mechanical, doesn't require any higher brain functions, and I still have the feeling of accomplishment.
