July 2020 - Day 24

Here is the place to tell us about your daily success (or the lack of it)!
May the magic be with us all!

Another 400 or so words, but mostly answering e mails today...

Granddaughter is napping. I took a 20 minute break, then settled in and got in over an hour on the WIP. Putting the finishing touches on a couple of scenes, then I'm at the final scene, which is in first draft shape, but I still hope to finish the story by this pico's end:)

It is surprising how much you can do in an hour, if the ideas are here!

Wearing her out, are you? Does she have her own room for napping or do you stay with her? More than an hours worth or work on the story is pretty epic though!

I hate it when there is something that is sticking. I admire your ability to move past that point and carry on with the story - I find I just grind to a halt and don't get anywhere until I can make the stuck bit work.

[identity profile] candidlily.livejournal.com 2020-07-25 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
I know how that can be. Keep at it and eventually your brain will work through the earlier stuff. Good luck!

Rock on! You are certainly knocking it out of the park this time around.

I noodled around all day reading something I wrote 10 years ago. (Actually it was pretty good - I am surprised, as I hadn't read it since!) But then made myself open the Word document and at least write something, about 10.30 pm (Thank goodness for Pico!). And I realise that now, at 12.15, there are another 800 words or so written. And the character has made up her mind about something that even I wasn't sure about until I began to type!

That's excellent! Sometimes revisiting old work can be helpful.

Wrote 200 words on a new fic idea today! This one with soulmarks. I might work a little more on the bed & breakfast AU tonight, but since I sent the long fic off to beta today, I'm letting myself take it easy.

[identity profile] curiouswombat.livejournal.com 2020-07-25 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
Well done! Hurrah for getting the long fic off to your beta, and on starting something new. I find those opening words can be really difficult to get down.

I spent a lovely morning in the botanical gardens, which have recently reopened - sometimes looking at flowers, and sometimes just sitting in the sunshine enjoying the peace. But then in the afternoon I found a book online that I hadn't read (an old book) by an author I really like, and a lot of the rest of the day just vanished - I eventually wrote some words at the last minute, and then stayed up a while longer finding out whodunnit (and what exactly had been dun!)

114 words of going the wrong way.

when I looked at the map I realised that I really had to head back the way I'd come - past the indoor courts again, and up the steps, and along the uphill path, to come down again on Glenlockhart Road, where an elderly lady nearly got herself run over dashing across the road to ask me for directions, which seemed rather ironic.
