A few days ago I mentioned scribbling a less-than-flattering description of a character Fandom Loves But I Don't as literary therapy :) The thing is, when I read it again, I decided that the version of him I see (which to be fair isn't honestly as bad as the therapy scribble, but is a shabby-virtues/shabby-vices sort of thing) would make a pretty good character in his own right. As a necromancer. Who isn't as good as he thinks he is. And has more than a touch of pecksniffery in him as well. But looks like the good guy (okay, in a hatchet-faced and skin-the-colour-of-undercooked-porridge way, can you tell he's not my type?)

So I spent some time creating said necromancer.

{sigh} I do have several characters who would make for a lovely fantasy story if I could come up with a plot...

Oh gosh, this necromancer sounds like a really good character!

Let your characters roam free in the ether for awhile, and while you imagine more about them, I'll bet you'll start getting ideas for a plot to put them in!

At the minute they are sitting at a table drinking the fantasy equivalent of tea and simply looking at me... which, when you think of it, is how a lot of my stories go :)

My characters rarely actually talk about doing things. That's why most of my fanfic was always dialogues and vignettes.

Apparently part of the writing unit I am studying will be about plotting... I hope it will help.

Agree with everyone else, what an interesting sounding character, such possibilities! Plots are hard--get him into some trouble and see what happens :)

I think the fans of the original character would not be impressed, but I'm liking him.
