Nothing for me. Again. RL interfered, and afterwards I was simply too brain dead. If I'm this useless during pico season, I fear for this poor story in general. Will it ever be finished, I wonder...
This isn't really a normal pico season for you is it. You know being a caregiver is an exhausting job, even when it's done willingly and with love. You're doing fine!
TBH, I've given up on the rest of this pico season. It's no use trying to force things. I'm too tired, plus Easter is coming, which means more household chores, so... it just won't work. *sigh*
I think when RL settles down again, you'll be back writing.
I think back on your posts, of your days filled with medical concerns for Mum, and taking care of her, and working so hard to create tasty meals and treats that will tempt and please her (and you:)), and I also think giving yourself to crafting in your spare time is good for the soul and peace of mind. Keep giving yourself as much rest and relaxation as you can mange. You need it. You deserve it.
I put in an hour or so of writing each day this weekend, with some extra time spent on light research. The story is shaping up. I don't love it, but it will serve its purpose without being totally embarrassing!
I think that I'm just not that good at writing to prompts. I do get ideas of a sort from them, but often don't come up with a story that incorporates them very cleanly. That doesn't matter if it's an overall prompt challenge, but when it's supposed to be a gift I feel badly about going so far afield... Oh well, onward we go.
That the story is shaping up is great. I could never write to prompts, honestly. The two single times when I took part in a SG:Atlantis ficathon showed me that it just isn't my thing.
The story will serve its purpose. Let that be enough for this challenge.
Realistically, no one expects showstopper stories for these little Easter Eggs. Prompts should allow the writer to take them wherever they lead, no matter how far afield, and not be a laundry list of what the story must be about.
Now that I've said that, I do believe my prompts really were given as a list for a story that takes place in Prompt 1 setting, and the characters should experience Prompt 2, and also include some sort of Prompt 3. So that's what I am writing, and I know my recipient will be fine with that.
I do hope I'll also come up with something that gives it a little zing here and there!
Yes, you can usually tell what people are looking for by the way they give their prompts. I try to pick recipients that strike me as being a little more open minded :)
I try to do that too:) I lost confidence in what I was doing with the prompts, between my ability to pull it off and doubting if it would even appeal to my recipient.
In writing to the prompts with the reboot, I think (I hope!) my recipient will like it much better than the original comedy idea:)
Day 29: Two hours on the story. It's coming along. It won't be a memorable story by any means, but it will do. I'm okay with that now. I don't know why I get my undies in a bundle over these little challenges that are supposed to be short, fluffy and fun.
