I've managed to write another full scene today, after having torn up the first attempt on it from yesterday. You know, I'm beginning to hope that I might actually finish this sucker during pico time!
Excerpt:
Anne nodded in resignation. She alone in the shelter knew who – what – Sunset really was: an unlucky victim, raped into unlife by some random vampire. She didn’t even know which Clan, bloodline or generation she belonged to – presumably a weak and mixed one – and wouldn’t have lasted long in the Dark, hadn’t she been “adopted” by Hawk, the powerful and fearsome Nosferatu Primogen. She had officially become a member of Hawk’s household and was given a surprising amount of leeway for a mere neonate, but she couldn’t afford to violate the rules.
God, I hope so! I want this endless monstrosity to be finished! Not that I wouldn't like the story, mind you. But after such an ungodly long time I'd be happy to be done with it.
Hope you have a good holiday weekend, I assume with lots of company! We're expecting bad weather till Monday, so that's when we'll do the outdoor stuff. Even if you can't get in too much work during the festivities, you can start refreshed on Tuesday.
Did some work on a story last night and this morning. I'm working on a monthly challenge, but I'm slow so its last month's. I like this month's prompt as well, and have a glimmer of an idea to combine the two, god help me. The writing is coming slowly, I'm not happy with the quality right now, but at least am getting some words down on paper.
You are absolutely right! Words are words, and once some of them are down on paper, you can always tinker with them later if you aren't content with them.
Today I wrote 147 words about James Lind - I've got all sorts of tiny topics to write about. And I've done my photos, and my dancing practice (the online dancing ended yesterday, for the summer or forever, but I'm trying to actually *remember* some of it!). Still no reading of library book, though.
during his time in the navy he had carried out what was one of the first ever clinical trials, giving different remedies to different groups of sailors suffering from scurvy in order to record what happened, and including the citrus fruits which eventually proved successful
Theoretically anything Age of Sail (although generally from ~1700), but I do drift off into history of science (on the excuse that either Jack or Stephen would be interested), or generic local Georgian stuff which may be age but is certainly not Sail.
I did get the second half of Educating Éowyn posted at AO3, so I am continuing to archive things.
I have got my next tape for the listening project but I think it might be a day or two until I get to it — but my goal is only 2 in the month. Any more will be a bolus.
But I actually opened the WIP file and wrote the opening of the next chapter — granted it was only around 200 words and a snippet would probably not make a lot of sense, but it is a start!
