I finished another scene and started the next one. I'll probably have to break the chapter in two, since I'm on Page 14 already and still have a lot to stuff into it. We'll see when it's finished.
Excerpt:
When two days later Michael went to meet Alex Moreau at the Hyperion, the press was already full of dramatic pictures about the burned-down Femboi. Wild guessing about who might have been responsible for the supposed vandalism was spreading like wildfire (pardon the pun), and not only among the mortals.
“I assume that Salvador sent over a few of his thugs from La Hermandad,” Joaquin Murietta, LAPD detective, powerful Toreador of Ancilla Blood and a stout supporter of the Camarilla, said to Alain. “He likes to do our Prince small favours, while keeping his independence. And the Brujah Anarch are very good at that sort of job.”
“Were there casualties?” Alain asked. “Mortal ones, I mean.”
Because dead Sabbat didn’t count; they both agreed about that.
I've started writing a SF little story inspired by one I saw online titled 'invasive species'... I'm trying not to rip off the original story, my idea is rather different (and, ummm, a little bit horror) but I'll see how it turns out. I know there have been a billion takes on the a'alien parasite' story, but the image I got simply wouldn't let go.
Still odd scraps - 104 words about a programme I watched about Turner.
There are three things I knew about Turner, I think - that he studied clouds in order to accurately depict weather, rather than just using generic clouds as a standard background to any picture, that he painted sunsets coloured by volanic ash, and that he painted Temeraire in her last days
In Roman Gaul they have been leaving offerings for the spirit of the source of the Seine, but then some of them turned Christian and got in trouble for it. I only read half a chapter again today, though - it was quite a long chapter, and other things were happening.
Love Turner's painitings — there was a documentary series on British artists just recently and one epside was on one of his last paintings, breathtaking...
I kept finding that I liked some of the more detailed earlier stuff better - they would be talking about how he developed from x to y, and I would be thinking 'I kind of liked x'. I do love the GWR train one, though.
I checked, the painting they discussed was Norham Castle, Sunrise (https://www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/turner-norham-castle-sunrise-n01981). Have to admit, I love it...
This was BBC4 Being Intellectual! To be honest, I think they just show the same few things round and round, but I haven't seen them before, so some of it is interesting to me.
Eventually they decided that Seine should be the name of a Christian saint, and went back to visiting the source, but with different prayers. I think this was very clever :)
A week's gone by already! I've barely been writing. I've logged 2 1/2 hours. We are just too busy with summer activities, lots of fun, and several other commitments have popped up unexpectedly.
I will try harder next week to get a grip on my writing time, and will pop in here to wave hello when I can!
341 words today on the new thing I started yesterday. Having fun with it! I think if I actually find more than 30 minutes to devote to it I might make good progress toward getting it done. Hopefully this weekend!
