No new words today, and there probably won't be any more for the rest of the session. I've decided that finishing the story was enough and will spend the rest of the month with typing up character lists, a timeline and other background trivia for the finished story, which then will be posted as "Pathways in the Dark — the evolution of a series", for those who are interested in that kind of thing or want to learn more about the Pathways-verse.

Consequently, I've typed up the list of the Camarilla Nosferatu in LA today. There is only one OC on this list ("played" by Avery Brooks and modelled after his character, Hawk, from "Spenser — for Hire"), the rest have been borrowed from Buffy, Angel, the Vampire: the Masquerade RPG and heavily modified, so that they'd fit into my AU. If anybody is interested, I actually saved Forrest Gates from "Buffy". *g*

And I reckon getting that story finished and now being able to get it all neat and tidy is definitely a good outcome for this session.

I liked Forrest a lot and was pissed when he got killed off. But that's what fanfic is for, right? *g*
I wrote his own story; about how he survived and became a vampire, but haven't posted it to AO3 yet. I think that will be the next thing I do.

This is a 2 day check in as I spent most of yesterday off-line — no problem just out and about, and then not so much baby-sitting as 'keeping two young people company' for the evening!


I actually did take the couple of hundred words hand written on Friday and typed them up. Then, after the relevant young people had gone to bed, I sat and thought about how the next scenes were going to go. You know when you know the destination but not, immediately, the route!

So by today I have been able to write a further 650 words — and I know what the next scene is, too :)

Here is a little bit. The POV character used to be Dawn (aka The Key), in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, before she was returned to Middle Earth. Ithilienne is her daughter and has her own aspect of 'Keyness' which allows her to, sometimes, be able to speak to someone she knows in their dreams.

Thinking of those on watch reminded her that, looking at how high in the sky Ithil now sat, she should think of going to sleep as Ithilienne might want to ‘talk’ to her. As she undressed and settled into her bed roll she could hear Legolas explaining to a large oak, in a quiet but serious voice, that there would be Elves here more often as time went on, and that he, personally, would rest in its branches tonight; but could it ask the other trees to be patient and stop shouting?

‘And this isn’t weird at all…’ she thought with a smile as she let herself drift to sleep.

I do still get comments at TtH — and the odd one or two at AO3, but those are mainly from people who know the stories from TtH and are commenting on how nice to be reminded of them by me posting them there :(

Today I wrote a bit about an online talk I 'went' to on Thursday, about suspension bridges - mostly Samuel Brown. I'll have to wait for the recording to do it properly, but it was interesting. 105 words so far.

Despite this [Welsh] background, however, Brown's most famous bridge is certainly the Union Bridge linking Scotland and England near Paxton.
