Humph. I wrote two filets for related prompts and then, just as I was closing up to go out for the evening... I suddenly had the idea that what they should be was simply dialogues, that would be better and funnier. So I'm scrapping them (but shoving them in a workstuff folder just in case I can use bits of them later) and I'll rewrite them.
At least I know what I want. On the other hand, I didn't name anyone but the canon characters in the originals ficlets, I didn't need to, and now I we have to come up with at least half a dozen Arthurian faux-medieval names (oh woe is me.... I will take any excuse for name research, I will :)
Didn't get much done after the first couple of days last week, hijacked by chores stemming from the fact that we're moving at the end of April. I'm trying to make time for pico every day to take my mind off worrying about details that I can't do anything about yet :) So back on track today.
I started work on a new scene which doesn't have a specific place in the on-going story yet, but will have some interactions I wanted to play with. Mostly dialogue today, around 300 new words.
It also looks like MFU is going to have a last hurrah for one of our long-running challenges; the moderator decided at the last minute she's do it one last time. So I might have to switch over to writing that this month. Also have to come up with a prompt which always takes me forever and then often turns out to be completely impenetrable to the writer :D :D
Back to Cook — mostly about the third voyage, but also realising that since there are three chapters covering his three voyages, it doesn't make sense to split it too strictly. 103 words.
The third voyage was a slightly unlikely voyage of exploration, looking for a north-west passage between Alaska and the American mainland, and had no team of civilian scientists
No writing on day 7. I used 1 1/2 hours searching screen caps and episodes for a particular scene I have always wanted to use in a fanfic, intending now to use it in my story. No luck. It's a tiny scene. Moving on to Plan B! Make something up!
