This is the place to tell us about your daily success (or the lack of it)!

May the magic be with us all!

Real Life has a way of hitting you over the head, doesn't it? But you always manage to squeeze some sort of creative work into your day.

That's true. I'm not good at that, but I'm doing a little knitting the last few months and while it's not beautiful I can at least say "I am learning!"

And I call reading reserach as long as no one asks me what the book I'm researching in is.

If nothing else in my life is going right, I go and pull up weeds in the garden.

{hugs} Sometimes it just seems to be so hard...

Humph. I wrote two filets for related prompts and then, just as I was closing up to go out for the evening... I suddenly had the idea that what they should be was simply dialogues, that would be better and funnier. So I'm scrapping them (but shoving them in a workstuff folder just in case I can use bits of them later) and I'll rewrite them.

At least I know what I want. On the other hand, I didn't name anyone but the canon characters in the originals ficlets, I didn't need to, and now I we have to come up with at least half a dozen Arthurian faux-medieval names (oh woe is me.... I will take any excuse for name research, I will :)

I'm starting to suspect you changed your mind about the ficlets just because you wanted to research names :D :D

I deny it! (Despite the fact that what little writing I got done the next day was, ummm, reseraching names)

I downloaded a whole A-Z Arthurian names list some years ago, simply because, and I love it dearly.... plus I have a page of Medieval names and 'nicknames', diminutives etc that I must have downloaded at least 10-12 years ago ito a word doc but still love dearly... I don't even know if either is still on the web, but the Internet Archive is sooooo my friend.

Didn't get much done after the first couple of days last week, hijacked by chores stemming from the fact that we're moving at the end of April. I'm trying to make time for pico every day to take my mind off worrying about details that I can't do anything about yet :) So back on track today.

I started work on a new scene which doesn't have a specific place in the on-going story yet, but will have some interactions I wanted to play with. Mostly dialogue today, around 300 new words.

It also looks like MFU is going to have a last hurrah for one of our long-running challenges; the moderator decided at the last minute she's do it one last time.
So I might have to switch over to writing that this month. Also have to come up with a prompt which always takes me forever and then often turns out to be completely impenetrable to the writer :D :D

We are renovating so I know ALL about that "take my mind of details" business....

300 words of dialogue is okay, though!

(And good luck with the prompt!)

Around 250 words written today — in rough on paper, with a pen — so next job is to polish them a bit and add them to the file on the computer :)

Excellent work! It's so much easier to do the polishing on the computer.

I usually write straight onto the laptop — but if I need to kick-start myself I will sometimes take a notebook and pen somewhere different, like the coffee shop at the garden centre.

I write on the baby laptop (my handwriting, my handwrititng....) but if it's sizable (or studies) print it out on old scrap paper to manually edit.

And I do sometimes scribble inpsiration in the notebooks I carry round.

Well done! I am out of the habit of writing by hand (and my handwriting was always pretty bad, and has gotten sloppier, so it doens't encourage me) but I do try to carry a pen and notebook around to make notes and lists and ideas and things, so sometimes....

Sometimes I find it will kick-start me into the next bit of the story if I start with a blank page, and a pen, preferably in a coffee shop!

Coffe shops are so nice, I am looking for one to make my regular :)

Barely scraped together my 100 words before bed, but I'm proud that I managed even that much on an exhausting Monday.

Back to Cook — mostly about the third voyage, but also realising that since there are three chapters covering his three voyages, it doesn't make sense to split it too strictly. 103 words.

The third voyage was a slightly unlikely voyage of exploration, looking for a north-west passage between Alaska and the American mainland, and had no team of civilian scientists

Well, some :)

I need to stop writing odd scrappy bits, and do some joining together, but I never seem to have the brainpower.

If I dimly recall from reading, that north-west passage was a goal for many explorers...

(And they should always take civilian scientists. See Darwin. And Stargate Atlantis!!!)

No writing on day 7. I used 1 1/2 hours searching screen caps and episodes for a particular scene I have always wanted to use in a fanfic, intending now to use it in my story. No luck. It's a tiny scene.
Moving on to Plan B! Make something up!
