And only a letter away

lol!

Night club? Night club? You mean healthy mountain hikes with the Alpine Club. That's why he's always so tired afterwards...

Although the idea of Peter being in the crowd has definite plot bunny potential. I'd better sit on it hard before I get distracted!

It's always good when a scene comes out the way you hoped. Thanks =)

He is a complex character. Interesting to write.

Well, the torture and prisoner part here is not really to make Adrian do what he wants. Adrian is already doing that.

But he knows that it is only a facade on Adrian's part. The intent is to keep him off-balance with the goal of breaking him.

Just like someone bowing to a bully. The person isn't doing it willingly, even if no gun is used to force them. Bullying has the same effect as using a gun in the mind of the person being bullied. The person is still resistant on the inside and that is the point where Adrian is now and the Admiral knows it.

Keeping him prisoner is because he is considered a traitor. He is a prisoner. If he were not useful, he would either be executed or on a prison planet.

The torture is a psychological game, a technique that is in common use in their universe, just like the retraining and punishment cells ideas of Blakes 7.

This is also why I've always considered Blake a weak leader. He needed to use bullying and lies to get Avon to follow him. That's not the mark of a good or strong leader. It's only the mark of a bully and tyrant.

I have not fallen off the edge of the earth! I have just been busy with [insert your favorite not-writing-excuse here]. I have been poking off and on at the Swordspoint story, but the bigger news of the day is that I have about 277 words of rough draft for a birthday ficlet which will be due next Friday, November 27. Fortunately, I will have lots of time off this week to devote to that story (which I'm estimating at 300-350 words), this week's t_w drabble, and the damned Swordspoint thing.

A quick recap of my goals (to lessen my guilt over evenings spent not-writing:)
Major goal: 5 drabbles for November challenges at [livejournal.com profile] tolkien_weekly (500 words)
Accomplished: 3 so far, 2 more to go.
Minor goal: Whatever other writing happened
Accomplished: Final October drabble for [livejournal.com profile] tolkien_weekly - 100 words
Swordspoint ficlet "Reckless" - 179 words

I'm feeling much better about things now. The main goal is well on its way towards being met, and the rest of it is just icing.

I worked a bit more on the birthday thing, and now it's looking more like 500 words! *glee*

I too have not actually fallen off the edge of the Earth. Last weekend was a long and VERY busy one, what with getting my better half onto a flight to Buenos Aires on Tuesday. So no writing for five whole days! I did manage to get some done Wednesday and Thursday lunch times (about 500 words between them) but didn't log in here to post anything.

Today I have not written anything of the month's project, but after posting a previous chapter for CWIL to critique I decided to help out the newer members by summarising the first thirteen chapters that they haven't seen. So I've written lots of words of synopsis, though I've only reached chapter 11 so not quite finished.

Yes, which always made me wonder about Federation society because it seemed like that was common and accepted practice there. Of course, if that is all they know and everyone accepts it, they wouldn't have the same reaction that we would.

I slacked off yesterday for no good reason, today I've been mostly revising and wishing I had the technical skill to do what I want to do :(
Tomorrow I will ignore the problem and plow on ahead.

I'm pleased to have reached my original goal in terms of word count, but since the story's not finished, only mildly pleased.

Synopses are actually a lot of work. Thirteen of them, ouch.

Great that you're still able to do the lunchtime writing.

You're actually doing a lot when you look at the whole picture. And the ficlet seems to be going great.

What a nice sketch of Harriet's feelings--and heading home must feel pretty good.

A productive lunch indeed. The ghost towns are officially off limits?

A very good scene. And I like the hint of the sharp eyed First Officer.

Arthur is getting an education, of sorts. Hardy is a wonderful character.

Not in this one, but it's worth considering as a future idea.

That would all depend which history books and/or contemporary texts you read. But the Catastrophe was one of the events that led to the various ongoing wars (the Second Falklands War had pretty much died down at that point, although no truce had been signed).

More of that will become clearer when Rob's kidnappers reveal their real agenda.

Very much so. Northampton's not too dangerous in terms of residual contamination, but that means there's more chance of running into the sorts of people who might live there.
