Er - oh - crikey - yes. Today's the first day of Pico, isn't it.

So, er, I suppose I should write something...

Looks like the first lucky winner of my short fiction finish-me lottery (thanks again go to altariel1 for the idea - quite the ringleader, aren't we ;) ) is a quaint little piece entitled "Lot 847":

“I did once meet a very charming laundry press,” it finally said. “I regret to tell she was sold almost immediately, since the lady of the house wished to replace her with a more fashionable model.”
