He's straddling the rung of the ladder - the foot that slipped has gone off the rung and the leg is down on the wrong side. I struggled with the description here, and welcome suggestions!
So far, no:( Parts of the story morphed into something else, and now they don't hang together, so I've just got to go with the new direction, I'm realizing, with regret.
Great progress. As to how it fits together, if at all, that issue will clear itself up in time, as each day you write more of the parts. If it turns out to be more than one story, that's a bonus!
