My heartfelt thanks to [livejournal.com profile] elmey for taking over the duties while I was enjoying the beauties of North Germany.

Here's today's prompt for your writing updates and for any extracts, thoughts, or comments you might have.

Keep the fires burning! :))

Well, I can haz synopsis, in rough draft of 2,600 words.

BUT it's too long, and it's too rough, and it exposes a big weak spot in the plot, and Lord there is too much going on. Really a rather brutal if necessary wake-up call.

I've a way to go yet.

Aww :(
But at least you found the weak spot and can hopefully now work out how to fix it :)

The end of the beginning, perhaps? Good luck!

Condensing, polishing to go, but you have your raw material! And if the spot really is weak, then it was a good way to see it and shore it up! Tea, coffee, ice cream, whatever your fortifier of choice is and then onwards!

Too many words can always be cut down. Congratulations on getting that far.

What length are you going for on the synopsis?

But a good exercise if it lets you get an objective view of the plot developments. You may have a way to go, but it's shorter than the way that got you here ;)

I'd like 1.5 K comfortably.

But now here comes the big decision. Should I be thinking of it in terms of 1 book, or 2? That's a decision which will affect how I proceed and I need to know how likely it is that I can pull it off...

The flow of the story is going to be different if you have two books--though if you don't want to give up that much of the material you have it's an option. I'd sleep on it ;)
