I hope nobody minds that I step in, since
elmey seems to be hindered by the higher powers.
So, here is your place to share today's achievements, thoughts, concerns and victories.
May the magic be with us all!

on 2015-07-24 08:01 pm (UTC)"In that case..." Edward considered his words carefully, and decided to try a different approach. "How's Roo? I'm afraid his mother's news rather took me by surprise, and I didn't want to say anything that would influence his decision either way."
"He's good, I think." Christophe glanced over to the fireside. "He seemed very excited by that package you asked me to give him."
"How would you feel about spending more time with us – with both of us, if Roo decides to stay with me rather than move to South America with his mother?"
"I'd like to." Christophe fished out his tobacco tin and cigarette papers. "But there are things I need to do before I can settle down. It might take me a year. It might take two, or maybe a lot longer. Growing up, I always resented Da for not letting us know when he'd be turning up or how long he'd be going away for the next time. And Katja resented me for the hours I used to put in, even when I was managing to get home most nights."
"Katja?" 'Kate' in several Northern European languages, Edward seemed to remember. He carefully avoided the question of what had caused Christophe to work unsociable hours.

What a great term! Possibly, I've admired it before, but it deserves more.

I've also started Chapter 7 and roughly planned out the rest of the story. It will change as I keep writing, it always does, but at least I now can see the end of the tunnel.
Excerpt:
Ianto hums noncommittally. He knows, of course, that Jack used to fly just about everything at some point of his unnaturally long life, from spaceships through atmospheric gliders to old-fashioned airplanes, but he never actually saw him doing so.
Unless one counted Jack’s reckless driving style that seemed to defy the laws of physics on occasion, that is.
“Well,” Archer says after a lengthy pause. “This was a very… educational little chat, Mr Daniels, or whoever you truly are. I still don’t know why I should take you with me to Rigel X, though.”
“Because I’m Torchwood; and you know that we always get the job done,” Ianto replies simply.

on 2015-07-25 02:38 am (UTC)I think the driving style must have some connection to the flying==once a daredevil always a daredevil :)
RE: A Matter of Time
on 2015-07-25 08:15 pm (UTC)I think the fact that Jack can come back from the death didn't help his driving style, either.

Mycroft folded his hands on top of the folder. “You hadn’t intended to breed the animals?”
“The litter came as a surprise,” Dr Agarwal explained. “Randolph had adopted two kittens shortly before arriving here under the impression that the animals had been neutered at the rescue centre where he acquired them.”
“When it became clear that the young female was pregnant, it offered an exciting opportunity to observe if any of the parents’ learned behaviours might be passed on to a new generation,” Skye added immediately.
“Then one of the resultant litter going missing was surely a cause for concern?” Mycroft remarked.
“We thought he might have got out of Randolph’s quarters and hid,” Agarwal said. “Perhaps died.”
“So you would eventually nose him out beneath the stairs,” Mycroft said.
