Here is the place to tell us about your daily success (or the lack of it)!
May the magic be with us all!

Internet is being whacky today, so I thought I 'd put up the daily post earlier, jusz in case...

No worries. I've had a very productive morning so far. I collected about a dozen prompts from the challenge request I put up and nearly 800 words into the first one. Now, onto work!

Hee! I like that description - I never saw Star Trek but we had some of the James Blish novelisations in the house when I was a kid and of course I read them. Vague memories....

500 words, a fairly promising start (or maybe precis, depending how things go) for the flower alien thing... he's the start. I'm sort of dithering whether the MC will be writing "for the future", or just in a diary for herself, the latter is what I'd do but still...

Thing is - and this is strictly between me and whoever reads this one day in the future, if anyone does - we didn't expect Evil Overlords from Space at all. That was strictly fiction, bad fiction, and best left there too.

(And of you, future whoever you may be, is now asking "what is fiction? The Overlords don't have it on the approved list", all I can say is I'm glad I'm not there to hear you.)

But if we were going to get Overlords, Evil or Not, we expected them to be... impressive. Sinister or benign, beautiful or hideous, humanoid or animalistic or insectoidish or whatever... we expected Overlords to be, well, Overlordly.

We didn't expect small, smiley, sunshine-coloured little creatures like little flying gnomes made of petals with pointed little heads like flower heads and bright, bright buggy dots for eyes, and voices - if they were voices, we never could work out anything that sounded like words, even alien ones - like the neverending flow and glassy rustle of wind through tiny, faraway bells.

And when we got... well, the smiley, sunshiny, sweet little things floating down in their millions from huge ships we never even got to see, we didn't expect them to be anything but smiley and sunshiny and sweet, and therefore... friends.

But they're anything but, aren't they?

We learned that fast enough.

Aaaaand run into a problem (if they only speak in glassy rustle, how the hell do they give out orders? Will have to think about it)
