I've cobbled together Chapter 12 of Magic Mirror - my Camelot/Merlin BBC x-over - from previously written parts. I'm quite content with the outcome.

Excerpt:

Merlin(*) freezes. “I can’t allow Arthur to be killed!”

“Then you must come to the castle with me and keep an eye on him,” says Gaius. “I’m too old and too slow to deal with assassins.”

“I can’t!” protests Merlin, frustrated. “Lord Agravaine would recognize me; and so would some of the guards.”

“Not if we get you other clothes and a decent bath,” says Gaius. “A proper shave won’t harm, either. We can use walnut oil to make your skin look darker, and if anyone asks, I’ll tell them you’re a travelling herb-master from al-Andalus. Which will also explain your strange way to speak. No-one expects a Saracen to speak the same way we do; and Zulfiya will see that you look like one.”

All last month I had some more ancient walk reports on my list of things to do, but I kept looking at it and putting it off for something easier, because the photos were saved somewhere else, and it was so long ago that there were lots of things I couldn't remember just from looking at the map.

So tonight I went and copied all the photos from the different days onto one memory card so that I would have no more excuses, and I feel quite productive already. 515 words so far, but there might be more before bedtime, so I'll report back with a snippet.

I have written my journal for the day - and spent over an hour this evening writing the first 268 words of the next chapter of my WIP. Well, not quite the first 268 words - it had 2 words written from early in lockdown and that was all I ever got down!

Tiny snippet;

‘At last!’ Haldir thought, ‘I am sure I could have travelled between the Noldor town and this point faster if I had been walking backwards carrying my horse!’

But he refrained from saying so.

Hello! My goal is to write daily. Today I worked for an hour on a WIP that I also worked on last time. I'm feeling a great sense of urgency to get this and another WIP completed.
I will try to come back this evening to comment but I'm in a very bad mood and think I'd be better waiting until the morning and get caught up.

I am so glad for picowrimo. Looking forward to seeing you all again. Thank you wiseheart for hosting. I am happy to lend a hand with the daily posts if you need a helper!

Well this is serendipitous, hope work doesn't get in the way and I have to bail. Might not post everyday because I have new computer (yea!) after months and months of failing computer and then barely working computer (and me being unwell) - and now I can write things, and read things, and concentrate on things (yea, again!).

So, my picowrimo news is, I have branched out, and this is the first online place I have told anyone I have branched out. Other than that, only a handful of real-world people know. I've written two fic in a fandom I don't write in, one of which I've shared, and one of which I haven't - but they're both still off-line - and a piece of original work - also off-line - but I'm not sure where to post it, other than my Lj, so it will probably stay off-line longer than the others.

And two years ago, before failing computer and dodgy health got in my way, I started a Pros BB, which I have actually scribbled a few more words for, so that might be finished in time for next year's BB, if I do a bit a week. It's already meandered a bit, but my stories always do. I never stick rigidly to the path, as long as I hit the major plot points, I'm happy.

And I had a look at a stalled WIP, can't do anything about that at the moment because still setting this computer up (i.e. transferring all my fic junk from one pc which doesn't work to shiny new pc which does).

I did toy with the idea of doing something for the section7mfu ABC Affair Challenge, but the posting schedule is punishing - I don't have that much spare time. So I did think I might be cheeky and nick the prompts (which I thought were intriguing) and write them up according to the rules outside of the Challenge.

And I found a new meme - well it's an ancient meme, but I've only just found it - which I might put on my Lj. It's one of those 'tell us about your fic habits' ones.

I hope things go well and you get to do the writing you want! Writing in a new fandom is always... interesting. Will you post them on Ao3? I've put up some truly small and ficletty ficlets there, it seems to be fine for that sort of thing.

I am currently writing an essay on anxiety that I'd like to post tomorrow. Got one section done today. Only thing left for tomorrow is treatment. And then find a sucker or two to scan it. yay!

Oh, this couldn't have come at a better time. I'm writing again for the first time in literal years - the last time I completed a story longer than 100 words was in 2016.

Mostly writing Magicians fic at the moment, as I just watched the entire series last month and I've got a lot of feelings to get out through writing.

I was traveling most of today but I managed to get in about 30 minutes before bed!
