Yesterday's post: Day Seventeen

Well, so far I'm at aprrox. 3500 words which exciteth me greatly. But what exciteth me even MORE is the fact that I actually have A CLEAR VISION for this story. I can see the path and I know exactly what's on it, minus the exact details. WOO-HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Didn't get any writing done last night though -- after a very long week and a couple hours chilling in front of the TV I tumbled into bed at 11.00 and proceeded like a log. A submerged log. Should get something today though -- not much work I can do without access to the school server...

Escellent! Nothing like knowing where you're going.

That's excellent news. Getting the words down should be easy now.

Yay! Seeing the path is such a great feeling. :)

Woohoo! That is fantastic, both for the number of words and knowing what's going to happen in it.

103 words today, not very impressive but at least I didn't skip two days in a row.

I keep telling myself, just keeping plugging away is the answer.

After the ecstasy of reaching halfway on day 15, the last two days have been complete washouts. Today, I've managed 516, which is poor for a Saturday, but it's so much better than nothing that I feel I've recovered a little momentum.

I'm also more encouraged about the project as a whole. In total, I've now written about 58,000 words of the whole novel, and I have a growing sense of where I'm heading and of the remaining chapters that will take me there.

The local lords were a strange sight. Those dressed as nobles rode with slumped shoulders and nervous faces. Beside them, squires in simple clothing rode with arrogant anger.
Lytellia chuckled. “Oh, I’d forgotten. These absurd creatures are following that bizarre festival. You know, when servants and masters swap clothes.”
Massetta grinned. Perhaps there was a chance for some fun.

Oops, correction. Total words are actually about 49,000

It's great that you've got a sense of where the novel wants to go, I'm sure that's half the battle. And 516 words -- definitely not to be sneezed at.

Wow! You've been hitting a wall, yet are still making your current spectacular progress?

Yesterday was a bit of a washout; I was hoping to write a lot, and instead I wasted time and slept. Nevertheless 336 words seem to have crept onto the tally somehow.

Losing one suitor to a duel was appalling, unspeakable! Losing two—the vocabulary of a lady simply did not stretch to the event.

Unless one could use the word 'careless' of course. ;-)

Deuced careless, I'd say!

I fear I'm suffering from the Dreaded Expectations Creep. Also, more rationally, starting to get nervous about my promised [livejournal.com profile] yuletide story, which I haven't even thought about yet, and will take some considerable ingenuity.

I don't write every day, but I passed the 5000 mark today, so I've put an arbitrary total of 10,000 on the counter. However the story will be finished when it is.

Excerpt:
Avon was lying spread-eagled on his back in a clearing, and a lion was standing over him with a paw on each of his hands. Avon turned his head to look at me, the whites of his eyes showing. "Vila, do something!"

"Got any suggestions?"

He rolled his eyes "I don't know, take a thorn out of its paw or something."

Oh, very well done! And Avon meeting Aslan, now there's an interesting thought.

Avon does not fit in well in Narnia. ;-)

It's a long-held opinion of mine that Avon doesn't fit in well anywhere.

I hadn't thought about it. Perhaps lunch out tomorrow (which is Monday here).

He's too grown-up to remember it well afterwards though.

No words at all on day 18. I was out from 8am to 10pm and was feeling decidedly unwell (and not just feeling by the time I got home)

Hope you feel better, SixOldCars, and it's nothing a quick oil change won't sort out.

Thanks everyone. I'm a little better today, so I should get some writing done.

Hi everyone. Still here, still reading your triumphs, tribulations and snippets. Haven't touched my fic for the better part of a week, due to job and rehearsal/performance commitment timesinks. One of the shows has closed, though, so I should be able to get back into it. :)
